Using Keynote to Create Your Presentation?

Converting Keynotes for Presentation

Keynote is presentation software for the Mac, similar to PowerPoint for PCs. Mac users can create presentations using Powerpoint or Keynote; if created with Keynote, however, presentations must be converted prior to display in the classrooms, because the classrooms are equipped with PCs only and will not display Keynotes.

Convert using Quicktime

This conversion can be done  by technicians at MedIT; simply send the Keynote presentation to us via the file upload application: http://UTMedfiles.ca. We will convert your presentation to a Quicktime presentation, which will preserve the animations and the formatting from the original.

1. You can also do this conversion yourself; here's how:
2. Open your presentation in Keynote.
3. From the Keynote (top) menu, select Share, then select Export Quicktime.
4. In the box that opens, set the following parameters:

• Set Playback Uses to Manual Advance
• Check Enter full screen mode when opened
• Set the Format to Full Quality, Large
• Check Audio: Include audio

4. Click Next.
5. Navigate to where you wish to save this file, and change the title if necessary.
6. Click Export.
7. Open http://UTMedfiles.ca to send this Quicktime file to MedIT.

Convert using Powerpoint

As is the case wth Quicktime, this conversion can be done by technicians at MedIT; simply send the Keynote presentation to us via the file upload application: http://UTMedfiles.ca. We will convert your presentation to a Powerpoint. With the conversion to Powerpoint, some formatting changes may occur and all animations will not be preserved; we will fix any formatting issues that result from the conversion, but cannot fix the animation issues. If your presentation relies heavily on animations, you should use the Quicktime option as outlined above.

1. Open your presentation in Keynote.
2. From the Keynote (top) menu, select Share, then select Export PPT.
3. In the box that opens, click Next.
4. Navigate to where you wish to save this file, and change the title if necessary.
5. Click Export.
6. Open http://UTMedfiles.ca to send this Powerpoint file to MedIT.

Bringing in your own Macbook is, unfortunately, not an option

The videoconference system used for showing lectures at the MSB downtown and at the HSC in Mississauga does not allow for the integration of laptops, including Macbooks, so bringing your own to connect to the system is not an option.
